I don’t think good people are more prone to do bjj more than any other sport or activity. It’s a mix. I don’t think anyone said they don’t value community. It’s just that if you aren’t happy, you shouldn’t be guilted into staying.That is the thing that is wrong with modern day sport BJJ. This is the only grappling sport where takedowns can be completely ignored and butt scooting is accepted practice. Sure BJJ is a ground fighting art, but in order to get the fight to the ground, you need to be able to execute a takedown. Pulling guard works yo.In summary, my two-week visit to Unity BJJ was a mix of highs and lows. While the coaching, camaraderie, and welcoming atmosphere were commendable, the unpleasant encounter with the aggressive colored belt and the gym's cleanliness problems left room for improvement.
